VBC's Building Project: Subcommittees

Committee Activities

The building design committee has primary responsibility for taking the input from the design subcommittees and the congregation at large, adding their own thinking, and communicating our needs and requirements to the Cogun project manager and Cogun's architect. To that end, the members have met with some regularity, commissioned site surveys, done their own legwork and surveys, and met with Cogun's people. They will continue to interact with Cogun and with the congregation to assure the highest-quality, lowest-cost building project possible!

Committee members

Fondly known as "de BDC", the Building Design Committee is comprised of five members:

Michelle Batt, committee chair
Michelle first came to Valley Bible through the Navigators as a student at Dartmouth college, while earning Bachelors of Engineering and Masters of Engineering Management degrees. She worked for Ford Motor Company in Detroit and Virginia, and currently works for Dartmouth's Thayer School of Engineering. Michelle is honored to bring her project planning and management skills to VBC's Building Design Committee. She and her husband Bob (a frequent Sunday morning pianist at VBC) were married in October 2001 and have enjoyed being permanent Upper Valley residents since then.

Pat Curtis, senior pastor
Pat Curtis joined Valley Bible Church in 1993 as our senior pastor. Previously, he was senior pastor at the Evangelical Free Church of Santa Rosa, California, for 11 years. He brings to the committee a broad understanding of the current space uses and critical needs, especially as it relates to our vision. He and his wife Carol live in Plainfield, New Hampshire, with assorted domestic and barnyard animals.

Linda Desmond
Linda began her design and illustration career at age 8 with drawing lessons in New Hope, PA. She has never stopped! She studied art at the University of Kansas and then for another four years at Syracuse University. For the last 16 years, she has been resident interior decorator at Brown Furniture, with special interest in fabrics, interior space planning, window products, and the use and science of color. She and her husband Phil live in Hanover, New Hampshire, and have attended VBC for 18 years.

Michael Goodrich
Michael Goodrich is a designer and builder of custom homes in the Upper Valley. He has owned his own business for the past 15 years. He lives in Norwich with his wife Deirdre and their three children and has been attending Valley Bible Church for two years.

Perry Seale
Perry has engineering and business degrees, and has been around construction for many years. He has managed construction for the Veterans Administration Hospital in White River Junction for the past 12 years. Perry, his wife Jill, and their 5 children live in Hartford village. Jill and Perry have a combined attendance at Valley Bible of 40 years!
