Our Mission

Valley Bible Church exists to glorify God and to build up a committed family of believers who love Jesus Christ by living out God's Word in the world today.

Our Vision

Our vision is to develop, equip, and support believers as ministers and leaders who live and proclaim the gospel according to their calling. This means that we see each believer as a minister gifted by God to serve Him. The church functions to help each believer to discover God's unique calling in his life, to provide opportunities to mature and to minister, and to train and support people as they serve.

WORSHIP - fostering reverence, awe, joyful celebration and heartfelt praise to God, recognizing and adoring His complete and holy character. Psalm 95, Hebrews 12:28-29

PRAYER - seeking God's will as we listen to Him and as we intercede for individuals, for our church family, and for the world around us. Matthew 7:7-8, James 5:13-16

BIBLICAL INSTRUCTION - providing Spirit-led preaching and teaching that guides us into all truth, renewing our minds and transforming our lives. Romans 11:33-12:2

FELLOWSHIP AND CARING - cultivating spiritual maturity by initiating to meet one another's needs in our church family and in the body of Christ. Hebrews 10:23-25

DISCIPLESHIP - developing accountability in our practice of the spiritual disciplines as we interact individually and in small groups. Hebrews 12:10-15, James 5:19-20

SERVICE - encouraging every believer to discover and exercise their natural and spiritual gifts and to fully appropriate God's grace for works of service. Ephesians 4:11-13, I Corinthians 12:4-27, Ephesians 2:8-10

EVANGELISM - equipping every believer to proclaim the Lord Jesus Christ in their daily life and creating additional opportunities for outreach. I Corinthians 9:22-23

WORLD MISSIONS - reflecting God's passion for all people as our ultimate vision, facilitating our missionaries, and affirming those called by God. II Peter 3:9

FINANCIAL STEWARDSHIP - practicing cheerful, generous, and consistent giving unto the Lord from all that He entrusts to us. Matthew 6:19-24, II Corinthians 9:6-15

Ministries

Ministry area Coordinator Description
Adult Education Tim Herndon (tim.herndon@ valleybiblechurch.org) Provides educational opportunities for adults. This area is responsible for the Sunday Adult Bible Fellowships.
Children's Ministries Carol Curtis (carol.curtis@ valleybiblechurch.org) From childcare, to Sunday School and Children's Church, to summertime Vacation Bible School, Children's Ministries oversees the full range of activities for the youngest part of the VBC family. Modelling Christ's love for children, the adults helping in this ministry are convinced that children are valuable to God and ready to learn about Him.
Compassion Providing physical assistance and a Christian witness to people in the church and in the wider Upper Valley community who have financial or other practical needs.
Evangelism Tim Herndon (tim.herndon@ valleybiblechurch.org) Seeks to help every follower of Jesus to be effective in sharing the Good News with those who have not heard it. This ministry facilitates classes, special services, and other church-wide events to help deliver the message of Jesus Christ.
Faith-Hope- Love Chi-Yang Cheng The Chinese Fellowship at VBC reaches out to the Chinese-speaking community in the Upper Valley.
Family Ministries Helping families grow – in marriage, parenting children of all ages, or through whole-family activities. Family Ministries includes marriage mentoring, which pairs newly married couples with an experienced couples for discipleship and encouragement.
Men's Ministries Bible study groups and special eventsform the core of Men's Ministries, helping men grow in their walk with God.
Missions Stimulates greater support for and involvement in the cause of Christ around the world by the VBC family. The Missions Committee oversees the ongoing support of over one dozen missionaries and organizes a biannual missions conference for the entire church.
Prayer Peg Archambault The Prayer Ministry fosters greater involvement and commitment to prayer as a vital part of every Christian's life. Soul Care personal retreats provide the chance for an individual to slow down their busy life and spend some quiet, calm time with God. Corporate prayer services bring people together to intercede for our church, community, and world. This ministry also organizes a team of people to pray with individuals who want prayer following the worship services, and a Prayer Chain, which provides a quick avenue for the communication of urgent prayer requests for the VBC family.
Upward Bound Timm & JoAnn DuMoulin An outdoor wilderness ministry, offering seasonal hiking, backpacking, and other trips. Our goal is to draw close to our awesome Creator by experiencing His creation.
Women's Ministries Vicky Fogg Bible studies, retreats, and other activities to help women draw closer to one another and to the Lord. Women's Ministries hosts several Bible studies during the week.

Youth Ministries (Xtreme Impact) Mike Boy (mike.boy

Targeting students in grades 6-12, Youth Ministries directs all the church's program for this vital part of VBC. Activities include weekly Sunday School, regular Youth Group times, small group Bible studies, camps, retreats, service projects, and cross-cultural mission trips.

Organization

ELDERS

Elders are responsible for leading and shepherding the VBC congregation.
Current Elders: Pat Curtis, Phil Desmond, Eric Hansen, Eric Johnson, Todd Langille

DEACONS

Deacons are responsible for managing VBC facilities.
Current Deacons: Justin Berman, Darren Humphrey, Ed Marquay, Bob Schwartz

STAFF

Senior Pastor Pat Curtis. Responsibilities include: leading the elder board, managing and mentoring staff, overseeing ministry directors, preaching, teaching, discipling, counseling and various other pastoral duties.

Associate Pastor Tim Herndon. Responsibilities include: assisting the Senior Pastor, overseeing adult education and worship ministries, teaching, administration and involvement in various other pastoral duties.

Youth Pastor Mike Boy. The focus is on developing the Junior and Senior High ministry at VBC from top to bottom, including service, outreach, Sunday School, discipleship, youth group etc. He is responsible to recruit and train volunteer leaders. In addition he is involved in various other pastoral duties.

Ministry Director Carol Curtis. Overseeing children's ministries and others.

Ministry Director Ruth Swift. Overseeing men's, women's and family ministries; missions, and others.
