Mission Statement

The Missions Committee at Valley Bible Church exists to glorify God by spreading a passion for God's call to reach the nations with the Gospel. We serve as a conduit between VBC and missionaries we support - both at home and abroad - and desire to serve Christ by faithfully presenting the global work of the Gospel to our congregation.

John Stott once said:

"I pray that these words, "all the families of the earth," may be written on our hearts. It is this expression more than any other which reveals the living God of the Bible to be a missionary God. It is this expression too which condemns all our petty parochialism and narrow nationalism, our racial pride (whether white or black), our condescending paternalism and arrogant imperialism. How dare we adopt a hostile or scornful or even indifferent attitude to any person of another color or culture if our God is the God of "all the families of the earth"? We need to become global Christians with a global vision, for we have a global God."

Our prayer is that God would move by His Spirit to shape us into a people who glory in and engage with God's work whether that's right next door or across the ocean.

If you are interested in learning more about missions or feeling prompted by the Holy Spirit to consider being sent (either long-term or short-term), it would be our joy to come alongside you and serve however we can. If, on the other hand, you simply have a passion for seeing VBC grow in our wonder of the global plan of God, we would love to talk to you about how you can serve with us.

Events: Perspectives on the World Christian Movement

What is your role in the story of God? Do your church members wonder: "What is my role in the world as a Christ follower?" Are you a pastor or missions leader who is looking to grow deeper in your understanding of God's global purposes?

God has a "world-sized" role for every Christian in His global purpose. Whether people go to distant countries or stay at home is a secondary issue. The primary issue is what most people are hungry to discover: vision to live a life of purpose. Discovering that vision makes this course valuable, and perhaps crucial, for any Christian.

"Perspectives on the World Christian Movement" is a fifteen-week discipleship course designed around four vantage points or "perspectives" — Biblical, Historical, Cultural, and Strategic. Each one highlights different aspects of God's global purpose. With a new instructor every week, you will learn from seminary professors, pastors, missionaries, and researchers and will have your mind and heart opened in a way that you never imagined by learning from each instructor’s insight. experience, teaching, and heartfelt stories.

Class begins Sunday, September 11 at 2 pm. The first two classes are FREE, so come and see what the class is all about.
